ChatGPT is an AI that can help you in a wide variety of different ways in what you ask the AI to do. So, if we give the AI the prompt to write an essay based on a certain theme, how long it should be, or any other specific details, the AI will create the essay with all the information you have given. The more details you provide to the AI the more specific the AI will be when writing the essay. This also works for anything else you might ask the AI to do such as writing a play or correcting essays with a rubric you provide it to follow. The AI can create these stories in ways that might be scarily similar to how you might write something or make something you want to write about way better and with better grammar, spelling and punctuation.

As a teacher, this could make the workload potentially easier with marking assignments and creating tests, which I believe would help to lessen the burden of the workload that teachers face regularly. In my opinion, I find that if all you had to worry about is creating a lesson that is meaningful and relatable to the students as one of the only aspects a teacher has to worry about, it will create less teacher burnout in the field of teaching. However, for students, I would not want my students to use this because they then would not have to be as creative or put much thought or work into completing the assignments that were given to them. This might sound like a bit of a contradiction to how it is a great tool for teachers to lessen their workload and how students should not use it to lessen their workload, but for students, the goal in education is to learn the fundamentals in a way that they can find their way of learning and understanding certain concepts instead of been giving everything to them without a single thought.

My background as a physical education teacher I believe there will be benefits to using AI because I am not a creative person so using AI to help find different ways to assess my students or to create new fun games that can inspire students to enjoy engaging in fitness can be a very handy tool for a physical educator. I could also use it to create schedules and organize things that will benefit me, so I don't forget important things, that I will be teaching my students or meetings that I need to attend. I could also use it to create workout and diet programs for individuals to help improve themselves.

In conclusion, ChatGPT AI can be very useful for the everyday teacher to get through some of the time-consuming tasks that lead to teacher burnout such as marking and creating tests and can give teachers time to create better lessons and build great teacher/student relationships.

Cory, I agree that Chatgpt could be very useful for educators, but should not be used for students. The contradiction in the statement causes me a bit of distress and guilt admittedly. I think of the questions, "But how is that fair?" or "How come you can use it but not me?". Perhaps the usage would have to be kept secret from students so not to cause any argument or disturbance. I've spoken to many teachers in the education field who say, "you will never make another lesson plan again". The process to make a lesson plan is a headache and a half! However, using this AI and inputting the data you need could cut that stress tenfold. Perhaps then teachers may actually make and use the lesson plans. Although, maybe in certain circumstances Chatgpt could be used for students. As a future ELA teacher, I can see myself using Chatgpt to generate essay or story exemplars for students. This could possibly be used for students as well to generate examples of certain formats in essays, stories, articles, or even poetry. However, the main question to ask is, "Do the benefits outweigh the disadvantages?" I'm not entirely sure. I can see students (and students currently do) use Chatgpt to cheat and write their essays. We do these forms of writing to help students generate ideas and think deeply, but this AI asks for neither.

I totally agree with you. ChatGPT can be very helpful when planning lessons and can help get the job done quicker - especially if you have a busy schedule.
